Screw You!

One of my first PAYING art jobs (1985) was for Milky Way Publications (Screw Magazine). By now, every young and wet-behind-the-ears cartoonist and illustrator in NYC knows to go here first for a quick job doing art for one of their covers. I think the pay was $125.00, BUT what was more important than money was the fact that SCREW was on EVERY NEWSSTAND and MAGAZINE RACK in New York City the day it's published! Your artwork will be all over Manhatten for a full week at a time. Plus, they are a very liberal staff and the art directors are FUN guys to work with. I did about 5 or 6 covers over a two year period. Great exposure (but a little uncomfortable when you have to show your Grandparents what your last art job was about!)
