The Benson Theater in Brooklyn

The Benson Theater was located at 86th Street, in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. This was two blocks from my Grandparents apartment. When "Saturday Night Fever" was being filmed there (presumably in early 1977?) my Grandmother was was one of the local on-lookers. Some of the crowd of curious Brooklyn-ites were welcome to be on the street scene as extras --alas, my Grandmother declined as she "did not have her hair done that day". Nonetheless; here is one of the ONLY know examples of the Benson theaters marquee .....Screen 1 is showing "Network" (released around Nov. 1976). The other feature at the Benson 2, is illedgable , but the word "love" is in there. This is possible that the feature was one of the Benson's "X" bookings .........

  1. And what a great location for a movie theater! You can see the 'el train steps are practically right next to where the ticket booth was. And the bus stop was right there as well! Mere steps from your transportation into the movie lobby! Those were the days!
